The Loft

A wide Northeast facing couloir goes up from Chasm Lake to the saddle between Mt. Meeker and Longs Peak and is often climbed by people heading for Keplinger's Couloir, but sometimes sees skier traffic itself. There is a band of rocks blocking the chokepoint near the top. You can climb up to that point and then turn around and ski it, or if you have climbing gear and a rope and a filled-in snowpack, you can follow a ledge to the climbers' left to get up around the obstruction. The all-around danger level in this zone is high, with threats from avalanches and cliff exposure.
